On the release day of Ubuntu 7.04 this week, Ubuntu mirror sites around the world were reported by many to be running slowly for most of the day due to the sheer demand of people upgrading to, or downloading the new version. In order to help people along the main Ubuntu site for much of the day was replaced by a list of links to mirror sites. This event would seem to show that Ubuntu is more popular than previously thought. Its official, Ubuntu is more popular than boobs. Recently reported in a blog entry at Caffiene Overdose it turns out that according to Google Trends Ubuntu overtook "boobs" as a search term in early 2006. Although the relevance of this statistic is as yet unclear it must say something about the success of Ubuntu and its community.

We've added a selection of resources for use in promoting Ubuntu. So far this includes buttons and banners for use on websites and forums, and a poster. We'll be adding more items as we come across them. If you have any suggestions for things we can add, or you want to create something for others to use, make yourself heard in the forum. If you need training to teach Spread Ubuntu you could get a nvq assessor award.
